100 years ago

Nov. 10, 1913: The University of Illinois has dropped plans to offer courses in sex hygiene. The new courses were intended to work with the state health department and be connected with the public health lab. There was too much opposition, says Mr. Kelley of the president’s office.

75 years ago

Nov. 10, 1938: Dr. Lloyd O. Ramseyer, formerly of Danvers and Heyworth, has been named president of Bluffton College in Ohio. He is currently on the faculty in the biology department. Dr. Ramseyer used to teach and coach in the Heyworth schools.

50 years ago

Nov. 10, 1963: Miss Effie Munson, former principal at Edwards School, died Friday. She had been ill. She taught for 41 years, coming to Edwards School in 1931. Miss Munson was promoted to principal in 1941, a post she held until 1954.

25 years ago

Nov. 10, 1988: Alexander Lumber, which has done business here since 1904, will buy the old Lumber Land facility, which has been closed since 1982. The sale price was not disclosed. Lumber Land had been in business since 1967, and was founded by a group of local builders.
