May 6, 1911: Mr. A.B. Davidson was found dead at the bottom of a well outside his home in Blue Mound Township. He was one of the township's best citizens. But lately he had showed signs of being out of his mind, and is thought to have suffered an attack of mental derangement.

May 6, 1936: The student players of Cropsey High School will present Whoofenpoof next Friday night. It's a comedy drama of newspaper life in a small town in Montana. Leading roles will be played by Eleanor Ward, Howard James, and Ima Jean Becker.

May 6, 1961: Waynesville physician J.E. Marvel, 78, was arrested and charged with illegal sale of drugs. He allegedly sold Nembutal tablets to an undercover agent. Dr. Marvel was being held in the DeWitt County jail. His practice in Waynesville was said to be small.

May 6, 1986: New figures show that personal income is running ahead of inflation. In Illinois the average per capita income is $14,397, good for ninth in the USA and up five percent over 1984. The other Great Lakes states bordering Illinois rank below it.
