NORMAL — The McDonald’s restaurant at 804 S. Main St., near the Illinois State University campus in in Normal, is open again with a full menu after being partially closed following a natural gas incident earlier on Tuesday.
The incident was reported around noon when a gas line was cut by a fiber optic cable installation crew. Hovey Avenue between Main and University was closed while crews made repairs.
The restaurant was able to serve some breakfast items, but the grill could not be operated, officials said. Repair crews fixed the problem and a manager reported the restaurant reopened and is operating normally.
Nicor and the Normal Fire Department were at the scene and said the leak was stopped. Traffic flow was restored on Beaufort Street.
