BLOOMINGTON — A wintry mix of snow and freezing rain is expected Sunday in the Bloomington-Normal area, with minor snow accumulations, but it will create slick conditions for motorists and pedestrians.
Snow began falling in the Twin Cities around 10 a.m., with the National Weather Service in Lincoln saying an inch or two of snow is expected. Any ice accumulation is expected to be “minor.”
Snow plows have been called out, especially in rural areas and several first responders have reported incidents of cars sliding into ditches or medians. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
A chance of freezing rain returns overnight and early Monday, said the NWS. The overnight low is expected to be around 28 degrees. There is another chance of rain, possibly mixed with snow, between 2 and 3 p.m. on Monday.
Rain is possible on Tuesday with a high of around 35 degrees. Another chance of rain or snow returns on Thursday.
