PONTIAC — Albert A. Zytniowski Sr., 87, Pontiac, died at 7:10 a.m. Thursday (March 18, 2010) at his residence.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac, with the Rev. James O. Wolfe III of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Odell. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to services Monday. Memorials in Albert’s name may be made to First Baptist Church, Pontiac, or Livingston County Humane Society.
Albert was born on April 1, 1922, in Chicago, a son of John and Mary Szewczyk Zytniowski. He married Maxine Darm McCabe on Sept. 2, 1995, at Galena. She survives in Pontiac.
Also surviving are two sons, Albert (Lora) Zytniowski Jr., Pontiac, and Gary (Elizabeth) Zytniowski, Battle Ground, Wash.; two daughters, Lydia Cullison, Pontiac, and Elizabeth (Timothy) Sirmer, Chicago; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laverne Furmaniak, Oak Lawn, and Rita Mateja, Chicago; four stepchildren, Cynthia (Lewis) Carroll, Normal; Constance (Charles) Springs, Seneca, S.C.; Karen (John) Abels and Steven McCabe, both of Pontiac; seven stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
Albert was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Angela Zytniowski; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Bauer; and nine brothers and sisters, Ben, Mary, Walter, Helen, John, Stanley, Irene, Patricia and Angeline.
Albert was educated in Chicago schools and was a heavy machine operator at Reynolds Metal in McCook for 30 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pontiac. Albert served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945.
