EL PASO - Alfred H. Wessel, 86, a resident of Livingston Manor, Pontiac, formerly of El Paso, died at 3:20 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 23, 2006) at Livingston Manor.
His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac, with Pastor Bobby Niemtschk of Trinity Lutheran Church, El Paso, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no visitation.
Alfred was born Feb. 10, 1920, at Centralia, a son of Theodore and Ida Wessel. He married Mary Wilcox on Jan. 19, 1946. She preceded him in death Nov. 9, 1993.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy (Robert) Ellinger, Chenoa; one son, Tom (Sandy) Wessel, El Paso; three grandchildren, Keith Thrasher, Lori Dechene and Eric Wessel; two sisters, Hilda Armstrong, Odell, and Ruth Hanenberger, Hoffman; four brothers, Ted Wessel, Florida; Leroy Wessel, Hoffman; Elmer Wessel, Collinsville; and Wayne Wessel, Carlyle.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Todd Wessel; three sisters; and three brothers.
Alfred was educated in Hoffman schools. He was self-employed. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at El Paso.
