MORTON — Allen Holderby, 77, of 102 Sassafras, Morton, passed away at 4:20 p.m. Sunday (April 16, 2006) at Rosewood Care Center, East Peoria. A private graveside service will be held. Cremation has been accorded. Memorials may be made to the Heyworth Christian Church. East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.
Allen was born Oct. 31, 1928, in Shirley, a son of Clyde and Victoria Anderson Holderby. They both preceded him in death.
Surviving are one brother, Tom (Connie) Holderby, Marseilles; four nieces, Vickie (Ron) McDonald, East Peoria; Ann (Dave) Brown, Bloomington; Margie ( Ron) Marusich, Utica; and Cheryl (John) Singer, Fenton, Mo.; one nephew, Calvin (Martha) Holderby, Fenton, Mo.; one brother-in-law, Robert Miller, East Peoria; along with 11 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by one sister, Dorothy Miller.
Allen was a safety engineer for Ralph M. Parsons Construction in Pasadena, Calif., where he retired in June 1995. He served two terms in the U.S. Army, one being in the Korean conflict. Allen was a member of the Masons since 1952; Scottish Rite Consistory; Shrine Mohammed Temple; Elks in Pensocola, Fla.; American Legion, Morton; and the Moose, Pekin.
