BLOOMINGTON — Andrew G. "Andy" Hauptman, 89, of 408 Florence Ave., Bloomington, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday (July 31, 2006) at Asta Care Center of Bloomington.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church, Bloomington, with the Rev. Ric Schneider officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's School Fund.
Andy was born Oct. 3, 1916, in Bloomington, the son of Andrew and Julia Heim Hauptman. He married Mary M. Peffer on Aug. 27, 1977, in Bloomington. She died Dec. 20, 1999.
Survivors include one brother, Robert (Gail) Hauptman, rural Bloomington; a nephew, Christopher Hauptman, rural Bloomington; one stepdaughter, Patricia (Lee) Helphinstine, Bloomington; one stepson, Robert J. (Elma) Peffer, Waukesha, Wis.; two stepgrandsons; two stepgreat-granddaughters; and his other nieces and nephews.
Andy was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Anthony Hauptman, and one sister, Catherine Miller.
Andy was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of St. MaryÃ¢ÂÂ's Church and the American Hungarian Society, both in Bloomington.
