NORMAL - Anna G. Merrick, 87, Flanagan, formerly of Normal, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 12, 2006) at Beulah Land Christian Home, Flanagan.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bloomington. Her funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the church. Father Ric Schneider will officiate. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. In lieu of flowers, Masses may be offered in her memory. Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.
Anna was born June 20, 1919, in Bloomington, a daughter of Anton J. Totterer and Rosa Szabo Totterer. She married Clarence T. Anderson on Dec. 8, 1944, in Georgia. He was killed in action March 1, 1945. She later married Thomas S. Merrick in Bloomington on June 16, 1951. Thomas preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1985.
Anna is survived by daughter, Linda (Alan) Leach, El Paso; sister, Eva Rediger, Normal; grandson, Bryan (Judy) Leach, Newberg, Ore.; granddaughter, Kimberly (Troy) Halvorsen, El Paso; great-grandchild, Tanis Leach, Newberg, Ore.; great-grandchildren, Alana, Van, Boden and Soren Halvorsen, El Paso; four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Anna was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and two sisters.
Anna attended Brown Business College in Bloomington and worked at Camera Craft Photography Studio in Normal for many years. She retired from Illinois State University food services on Jan. 1, 1976. She enjoyed her friends and family, traveling, embroidery, reading and playing Bingo. Anna was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bloomington.
