BLOOMINGTON - Arthur L. Aylward, 81, of 1716 Springfield Road, Bloomington, died at 10:07 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 4, 2005) at his home.
His private funeral will be Thursday at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal, with military rites accorded. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to VFW Post 454, Bloomington.
Arthur was born Dec. 23, 1923, in Nokomis, the son of Edward F. and Marcella M. Dougherty Aylward. He married Patricia Sheehan Sears in 1985. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Chuck (Fran) Sears, Texarkana, Texas; three daughters, Cheryl (David) Ballenger and Jeannie Lawson, both of Clinton; and Patti (Chuck) Sims, Sherman, Texas; three sisters, Rosemary Morris, Calexico, Calif.; Celene (Myron) Smith, Champaign; and Loretta Kibler, Decatur; one brother, Eugene Aylward, Edwardsville; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Aylward was a veteran of the Korean War and a retired carpenter. He was a member of VFW Post 454 and the Loyal Order of the Moose 745, both in Bloomington.
