CARLOCK — Audrey Mae Miller Grubel, 81, rural Carlock, passed away at 7:50 p.m. Monday (Sept. 6, 2010) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington. Burial will be in Centennial Cemetery, rural Secor. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, both at the memorial home.
Memorial contributions in Audrey’s name may be made to the VFW Auxiliary military boxes.
She was born June 29, 1929, in Monroe Center, a daughter of Raymond F. and Ruth G. Ebens Miller. She married Leroy “Lee” Grubel on Oct. 19, 1952, at Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington. He survives.
Also surviving are her two daughters, Nancy L. Grubel, Hudson, and Kathy J. (Alan) Sullivan, Reno, Nev.; three grandchildren, Marine Cpl. Christopher Sullivan, and Elissa and Michelle Sullivan, all of Reno, Nev.; one great-grandchild, Jordynn Edkin, Lakewood, Wash.; and one godchild, Gayle Ploense Heckelman, Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her parents and very special aunt and uncle, Irene and Harold Miller.
Audrey was a 45-year member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary Post 454 in Bloomington. She was also a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Bloomington, and Ladies of Harley Club. She was a leader and counselor for the Girl Scout Council of Central Illinois. Audrey was a longtime stage mother for the Janet Hayslip Dance Studio.
