NORMAL — William G. Fislar, 79, Normal, formerly of Danvers, died at 10:20 a.m. Monday (Dec. 14, 2009) at Heritage Manor, Bloomington.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with OSF Hospice Chaplain Stephanie Soon officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Danvers, with military honors by Carl S. Martin Post 635 and Louis E. Davis Post 56. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the memorial home.
Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice or Central Illinois Small Animal Rescue (CISAR).
He was born June 2, 1930, at Mackinaw, son of Glenn and Freida Ammerman Fislar. He married Marylou Mammen on Aug. 26, 1951, at Danvers.
Surviving are his wife, Marylou Fislar, Normal; daughter, Cathy (Jerry) Harweger, Bloomington; grandchildren, Rachel (Jason) Davis, Jamie (Jordan) Painter, Nathan Fislar and Andy Fislar, all of Bloomington; great-grandson, Austin Davis; and brother, Delbert Fislar, Salem, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mike; and one sister, Luella Anderson.
Bill was retired from ConRail after 45 years of service as a rail inspector. He was a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, Illini basketball fan, Chicago Bulls fan and loved bowling. He loved his dogs, Dollar and Katie. He was a member of the American Legion Post and VFW Post.
