NORMAL — James Roy “Jim” Codding, 87, of Normal passed away at 7:08 a.m. Friday (June 11, 2010) at his residence.
There will be no visitation. Cremation services were provided by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. A private funeral will be at Funks Grove Cemetery, McLean.
Memorials may be made to Home Sweet Home Mission or the Salvation Army, Bloomington.
Jim was born Dec. 13, 1922, in Galesburg, the son of Roy and Ellen Carlson Codding. He married Lila Brock on Jan. 22, 1949, in rural Decatur. She passed away June 16, 2008.
Surviving are four children, Jacqueline (Jerry) Page, Nicholson, Miss.; Steven (Sandy) Codding, Bloomington; Cathy (Mike) Kuritz, Hudson; and Chris (Edward) Jacobs, Windermere, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Alice Codding, Bloomington; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
Jim retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1977, after which he worked for State Farm Insurance Cos. for six years. He was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Army. Jim was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jim loved golf and the Chicago Cubs. James Codding will be loved and missed by his family.
