BLOOMINGTON — Delores L. “Toodie” Kletz, 87, Bloomington, passed away Sunday (Oct. 24, 2010) at her home.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. Dr. Randy Perry officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in Delores’ name.
Delores was born April 6, 1923, in Bloomington, a daughter of Cecil and Jessie Sharp Buford. On Dec. 28, 1939, Delores married Leslie R. Kletz in Bloomington. He preceded her in death April 16, 1993.
Delores is survived by her six children, Lynson (Janet) Kletz, Normal; Ricky D. Kletz, Bloomington; Kathy (Reggie) Smith, Salem, Mo.; Susan Hawk and Garry (Kelly) Kletz, both of Bloomington; and Kristi Covington, Normal; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Donna Newland, Bloomington, and Doris Straube, Reno, Nev.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, three children and two sons-in-law.
Delores worked as a cook at Unit 5 School District in Normal and later at Westminster Village. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and a member of Eagles Aerie 527 Auxiliary.
She was an avid Chicago Bulls fan, and also a fan of NASCAR, primarily Jeff Gordon. Delores enjoyed sports, playing cards, reading and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Not only was she a mother of nine children, but she was also a mother and mentor to many other people she came in contact with. She was known as “Super Mom” and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
