BLOOMINGTON — Carol I. Hilger, 73, Bloomington, passed away at 5:21 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 20, 2011) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
The graveside service for Carol will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Cemetery, El Paso, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Hardwick officiating. According to her wishes, there will be no visitation. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, El Paso, is handling arrangements for the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
She was born June 19, 1937, in rural Lacon, a daughter of Chester and Roberta Adams Tyson. Carol married Francis “Gene” Hilger on July 17, 1954, at United Methodist Church in El Paso. He survives.
Also surviving are her children, Debbie (David) Smith, Bloomington; Charles (Christine) Hilger, Lutz, Fla.; and Kimberly Cruze (David Mulcahey), Bloomington; seven grandchildren, Chandra and Alex Denison; Teri and Jason Hilger; Ashley (Chris) Derry; Kaci Mulcahey; and Dana (Ryan) Boyd; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lyle (Annie) Tyson, Missouri, and Allen (Kathy) Tyson, Wisconsin; one sister, Sharon (Clarence) Bruell, Sparland; and two sisters-in-law, Judy Schneider, Bloomington, and Iona Oltman, Metamora.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Carol grew up in the Chillicothe and El Paso areas. She worked at the Eureka Co., Bloomington Offset and Ron Smith Printing. Gene and Carol enjoyed fishing, camping and bingo.
She was a member of Bloomington VFW Post 454 and United Methodist Church, El Paso.
