BLOOMINGTON — Harriett May Schad, 88, Bloomington, died at 6:35 p.m. Sunday (July 3, 2011) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at North Danvers Mennonite Cemetery, rural Danvers. The Rev. Richard Kerr will officiate.
Memorials may be made to Home Sweet Home Mission Auxiliary, BroMenn Auxiliary or the VFW Auxiliary. Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Decatur, daughter of Roy and Myrtle Barnes Reeter. She married Vernon Schad on Sept. 23, 1943, at Sioux Falls, S.D. He died April 30, 1999.
Survivors include her children, Gary (Sheryth) Schad, Mesa, Ariz., and Karen (Gene) Vincent, Houston, Texas; six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Marlys (Robert) McFeeters, Washington; and sister-in-law, Ellen Reeter, Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Harriet volunteered at various organizations throughout the community.
Harriet was awarded the “Ideal Pantagrapher of the Year” in 1964.
She had a lot of friends and will be greatly missed.
