MINIER - Audrey A. Golden Henderson, 72, Minier, formerly of Mackinaw, died Monday (May 18, 2009) at Morton Terrace Care Center.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's United Church of Christ, Minier. The Rev. Paul Thompson will officiate. The family will greet friends two hours prior to the service at the church. Haensel Funeral Home, Mackinaw, is assisting the family with arrangements. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made in memory of Audrey to Minier Rescue Squad or Harbor Light Hospice.
Audrey was born Aug. 7, 1936, in Manito, daughter of James and Edna Maple Golden. She married James H. Henderson on June 18, 1960, in Mackinaw. He survives.
She is also survived by one daughter, Mary (Donnie) Anderson, Danvers; two stepgrandchildren, Chris Lemons, Chicago, and Heather (Brandon) Mock, Surprise, Ariz.; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Alex, Zach and Brayden; and two brothers, James Golden, Pacific, Mo., and Don (Pat) Golden, Manito.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Audrey, along with a brother ran the Mackinaw Cleaners. She then helped her husband farm and drove a school bus for Olympia School District for several years. Audrey last worked for Huffman Farm Supply in Minier for 25 years, retiring in 2001.
Audrey was one of the founding members and EMTs on the Minier Rescue Squad. She also served on the Minier Fire Department, Minier Village Board and was a zoning officer in Minier.
She was a longtime rag rug weaver, loved the outdoors, traveling and helping others. Audrey will be dearly missed by family and friends.
