NORMAL — Ben F. Taylor Sr., 91, Normal, passed away at 12:40 a.m. Monday (Nov. 25, 2013) at his home.
The funeral for Ben will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. Danny McCubbins officiating. Military honors will be by Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard Post 56 Bloomington and Post 635 Normal. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington, following the services at the funeral home. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois.
Ben was born Dec. 2, 1921, in Bloomington, the son of John and Mary Coup Taylor.
He married Peggy L. Simpson on Nov. 9, 1946, in Bloomington. She passed away Oct. 19, 1991.

He is survived by his two sons, Ben (Linda) Taylor Jr., Normal, and Carl (Kimberly) Taylor, Bloomington; along with eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Elsie Price, Columbia, Tenn., and one brother, Bill Taylor, Bloomington.
Ben was preceded in death by both parents, five brothers, five sisters, one grandson and one granddaughter.
He served in United States Army during World War II. Ben was an automotive mechanic all his life and retired from Lincoln Truck and Auto. He was a member of Bloomington VFW Post 454.
