CLINTON - Bernadine Carrico McNealy, 78, formerly of Clinton, passed away Friday (June 22, 2007) at her home in Denver, Colo., after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Bernadine was born in Vandalia, on Jan. 18, 1929, to Leeon and Fern Carrico. She married William A. McNealy on June 27, 1948. Bill preceded her in death, when he passed away on Aug. 5, 1977.
Bernadine is survived by her son, Brad (Carol) McNealy, Denver, Colo.; and her daughter, Debra (Chris) Hoelscher, Bloomington. Bernadine had one grandson, Marshall (Rebecca) McNealy, Plainfield, Ind.; two granddaughters, Jessica Hoelscher, St. Louis, Mo., and Erinn McNealy, Denver, Colo.; and one great-grandson, Braeden McNealy, Plainfield, Ind. She is also survived by two sisters, Florence (Emmett) Davis, Corona, Calif., and Donna (Sigel) Glover, Mobile, Ala.; and one brother, Leeon (Diane) Carrico, Fairbury.
Bernadine was an elementary and middle school teacher in Clinton, Tolono and Wilmington for 30 years. She was active in her church, singing in the choir, PEO and also served as a volunteer at the Rialto Theatre in Joliet. She resided in Wilmington for 27 years before moving to Denver, Colo., in 2004.
Cremation rights were accorded and a celebration of Bernadine's life will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 17 at the First United Methodist Church in Wilmington. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Bernadine's memory to a charity of your choice.
Bernadine leaves behind many dear friends. She was giving soul who always lent a helping hand. She will live on forever in the hearts of many.
Private burial will be in Forbis Cemetery, rural Vandalia. Miller Funeral Home Ltd., Vandalia, is in charge of arrangements.
