BLOOMINGTON - Bonita Kay “Bonnie” Floyd, 65, of Bloomington, passed away at 10:26 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 25, 2014) at her residence.
Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. Dr. David Rumley will officiate. Burial will be in Funks Grove Cemetery, McLean. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the memorial home, Bloomington.The family suggests memorials be made to Humane Society of Central Illinois or Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
Bonnie was born May 29, 1948, in Bloomington, daughter of Leroy Ernest and Carolyn Umbright Murphy. She married Michael Dean Floyd on Jan. 8, 1966, in Bloomington. He survives.
Also surviving are her mother, Carolyn Scarponi, Bloomington; two children, Michael “Brent” Floyd and Anthony “Tony” Floyd, both of Bloomington; three brothers, Randy (Linda) Marriott, Bloomington; and Richard (Kim) Murphy and Timothy Murphy, all of Meredosia; one sister, Nancy (Chuck) Sweitzer, Rantoul; one niece, Carissa Donaldson, Rantoul; and one nephew, Mark Ploense, Rantoul.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Bonnie loved caring for the needs of others and family and friends. She was well-known for her cooking skills. Bonnie loved the simpler things of life, such as going to sales, home décor and loving her little pet dogs, fondly calling them her “fur babies.” Bonnie always had smile on her face and a kind word to say. She was loved by many and touched their lives with kindness and love. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
