EL PASO — Brett A. Simpson, 32, of Springfield, formerly of El Paso, died at 7:53 p.m. Monday (Dec. 29, 2014) at his residence.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, El Paso, with the Rev. Don Roszkowski officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, El Paso. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, El Paso. Memorials may be made to El Paso-Gridley Youth Wrestling Club.
Brett was born April 28, 1982, in Fairbury, the son of Reid and Ann K. Connery Simpson.
Surviving are his mother, Ann, El Paso; two brothers, Dane (Emily) Simpson, Metamora, and Ryne Simpson, Chenoa; maternal grandmother, Shirley Connery, Conroe, Texas; and canine companion, a dog named Suh.
He was preceded in death by his father, Reid; paternal grandparents, Bill and Shirley Simpson; and maternal grandfather, Patrick Connery.
Brett attended Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in El Paso. He graduated from El Paso High School in 2000 and received a bachelor’s of administration degree from Eureka College in 2004. He worked for the state of Illinois Department of Health Care and Family Services, where he was the paternity establishment liaison. He had been employed there for the last 10 years. He also helped manage the family farm. He enjoyed the outdoors, farming and hunting. He also enjoyed watching high school sports and car racing. Brett always had an amazing way of making people laugh.
