SIBLEY - Bruce Gary Vetter, 53, of Hickory, N.C., formerly of Sibley; Katy, Texas; The Woodlands, Texas; Dacula, Ga.; Parker, Colo.; Urbana; and Conover, N.C., died Sunday Nov. 12 at his home in Hickory, N.C.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Sibley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Karen Martin officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City and for one hour before the service at the church.
Mr. Vetter was born Aug. 12, 1952, in Bloomington, a son of Ernest Lloyd and Marjorie Jean Schleeter Vetter. He married Maria Santucci on Jan. 14, 1984, in Melrose Park.
Surviving is his wife, Maria Vetter of Champaign; three sons, Anthony, John and Daniel Vetter, all at home; two daughters, Nicole Vetter of Novi, Mich., and Anna Vetter at home; his parents of Sibley; three brothers, John Vetter of Toms River, N.J.; and Paul Vetter and Stanley Vetter, both of Sibley; and a sister, Neva Rohrer of Sibley.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jim, and a brother-in-law, Robert Rohrer.
Mr. Vetter owned and operated Vetter Texaco in Sibley from 1973 to 1980. He then worked as a transportation general manager for 18 years for several companies. He then owned and operated a golf course in Statesville, N.C. Golf was his passion.
Memorials may be made to an Education Fund for his children or to the Hemophilia Foundation of Illinois Camp Fund.
