DWIGHT - Carroll Lee Hallock, 78, of Dwight passed away at 7:45 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 18, 2005) at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator.
The funeral service honoring his life will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Enon Baptist Church, rural Ashmore. Interment will follow in Enon Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be two hours prior to the service at the church. The Harper-Swickard Funeral Home of Charleston is assisting the family with arrangements.
Carroll was born Feb. 21, 1927, in Ashmore Township, Coles County, son of Alonzo and Ora Jane Golladay Hallock. He married Violette "Pat" Bigna on June 16, 1951, at South Wilmington. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Dwight Hallock and wife Laurie of Tyrone, Ga.; one daughter, Beth Eggert and husband George of Plainfield; and five grandchildren, Bryan Hallock of Boston, Adam Hallock and wife Kate of Grand Forks, N.D., Erin Hallock of Atlanta, Ga., Nikolas Martel of Plainfield, and Christina Eggert of Plainfield.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
Carroll was a professional landscaper. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He formerly held memberships in Dwight American Legion and Dwight Lions Club.
