BLOOMINGTON - Catherine M. Calams, 85, of 1570 Hunt Drive, Normal, and formerly of Chicago, Tucson, Ariz., Phoenix, and Valencia, Calif., died at 7:42 p.m. Friday (Feb. 3, 2006) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
Her memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Church of Merna, Bloomington, the Rev. Gerald T. Ward officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Patrick Church of Merna, or the Humane Society of Central Illinois
Mrs. Calams was born March 25, 1920, in Chicago, the daughter of John and Lilyan Sheehan Schultz. She married Timothy Calams on July 6, 1946, in Chicago. He died Jan. 6, 1990.
Survivors include one daughter, Christine (Max) Albritton, Normal; two sons, Timothy (Becky) Calams of Newhall, Calif., and James (D'Ann) Calams of McKinney, Texas; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Schultz.
Mrs. Calams was a switchboard operator for Illinois Bell Telephone in Chicago. She later worked as a secretary in Des Plaines. Catherine enjoyed reading, her family, faith, and friends were most important to her, and she was a great pen pal to many friends. She was a member of St. Patrick Church of Merna.
