BLOOMINGTON - Charles Donald "Don" Stewart, 86, of Bloomington died at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 8, 2006) at his residence after a valiant fight with cancer. His attitude and personality encourages us all to be better people for having known him.

Don was born June 23, 1919, in LeRoy, a son of Charles and Tina Wynn Stewart. He had worked for Caterpillar in East Peoria for 28 years and retired from Building HH in 1978, where he had worked for many years. Don made many friendships during his career and since his retirement.

He worked for farmers in the LeRoy and Downs area during their busy seasons for many years as well. Don enjoyed a good game of cards with his family and going on hunting trips. He was an avid pool player and won many trophies over the years.

After retiring from Caterpillar, he began his creative wood-working hobby, making much of the furniture in his home. As a husband, dad, grandpa and friend, he will be missed for his stories about his younger days, the antics he was involved in and the gags he used to pull. Don will be missed very much and thought of every day. He married Evelyn Moncelle on Aug. 5, 1966, in Morrison. She survives.

In addition to his wife, Evelyn Stewart of Bloomington, Don is survived by daughter, Shirley Anne Worth, Gibson City; three sons, Charles "Chuck" Stewart, Bloomington; Jerry Stewart; and Richard Stewart; 10 grandchildren, Deborah (Brian) Moser, Donald (Starr) Zook Jr., Wesley Stewart, Amy (Jim) Houk, Anne Johnson, Dana Wealand, Tonya Stewart, Matthew Stewart, Lenora (Dave) Guth and Linda (Bob) Raney; great-grandchildren, Tasha, Trisha and Shelby Raney; Alexis and Morgan Triplett; Victoria Renae Zook; Chauncey and Callie Wealand; Ryan and Allie Guth; Lyndsie and Wesley Stewart; David and Melissa Johnson; and Tyler, Josh and Blake Houk; three great-granddaughters, Kelsey and Kayla Stewart and Amanda Johnson; two great-great-grandsons; two stepchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Marjorie Scott, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
