ROANOKE - Charles "Chuck" Fehr, 46, of 1555 County Road 1600 N. Roanoke, died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 23, 2006) at the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Home.
He was born June 30, 1960, in Peoria, to Richard and Madelyn Schick Fehr. He married Annette "Annie" Hangartner on March 6, 1983, in Roanoke. She survives.
Also surviving is one daughter, Rebekah Fehr, three sons, Kaleb, Micah and Zachariah Fehr, all at home; his parents, Richard and Madelyn Fehr, Eureka; six brothers, Doug (Diana) Fehr, Peoria; Dave (Linda) Fehr, Morton; Paul (Natalya) Fehr, Eureka; John (Jane) Fehr, Roanoke; Brian (Anna) Fehr, Chicago; and Tracy Fehr, Roanoke.
Chuck graduated from the University of Illinois and then worked for Pioneer Seed Corn Co. He then attended the Moody Bible Institute and received a certificate in the advanced studies program. Following that, he and his wife were houseparents at Gateway Woods Children's Home in Leo, Ind.
He later moved back to the area and worked for Sprinkler Irrigation before he started selling insurance for Allstate in Peoria. He worked a time at Caterpillar in Mossville before he taught sixth, seventh and eighth grades at the Linn Mennonite School in Roanoke. His last place of employment was Greenview Nursery in Peoria.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Community Bible Fellowship Church in El Paso, where he was a member. The Rev. Wes Ooms will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Project Amazon, Roanoke Apostolic Christian Home or to the Chuck Fehr Memorial Scholarship at the Moody Bible Institute.
