MACKINAW — Charles M. Templeton Sr., 64, of Mackinaw, passed away Monday (Jan. 5, 2015) at his home.
Chuck was born Jan. 15, 1950, in Peoria, to George and Jean Hoyt Templeton. He married Ronda J. Schacht on April 21, 1973, in Lincoln. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Melinda (Adam) Corsaw, Downs; Jennifer Templeton, Mackinaw; Charles (Rebecca) Templeton Jr., Mackinaw; and Joshua (Tori) Schacht, East Peoria; eight grandchildren; and one brother, Edward Templeton, Spring Valley.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents.
Chuck was a medic in the Army for four years and the 182nd Airlift Wing of the Illinois Air National Guard, from which he retired. During his time in the guard, he worked at Caterpillar for 30 years as a machinist and an emergency medical technician. Chuck was a member and elder of Mackinaw Christian Church. He was a member of Mackinaw American Legion Post 607, a fireman with Mackinaw Fire Protection District, an EMT with Mackinaw Rescue Squad, CPR instructor and a past member of Elmwood Fire Department.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mackinaw Christian Church. The Rev. David Jassman will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at his church. Haensel Funeral Home in Mackinaw is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will be at Mackinaw Township Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the U.S. Army and his legion post.
