MINIER - Claude A. Troyer, 92, Minier, died at 1:48 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 25, 2005) at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal.
He was born May 14, 1913, in Lily, Mackinaw Township, a son of Oliver and Kate Unzicker Troyer Sr. He married Vanita Frevert. She preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were one grandson, five brothers and one sister.
Claude is survived by two sons, Richard (Sharolyn) Troyer, Minier, and D. Dale Troyer, Bloomington; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; one stepgreat-great-grandchild; two sisters, Ruth Schapmire, Normal, and Fern Rice, Sheldon; and one brother, Oliver (Pauline) Troyer Jr., Zephyrhills, Fla.
Claude last worked as a lineman for CILCO. He had also been the Minier village engineer and had farmed in the Minier area. He was a member and former board member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Minier. He was a member of the Comet Lodge 641 AF&AM in Minier; the Order of the Eastern Star 399 in Kalamo, Mich.; the IBEW Local 51 in Springfield; past board member of the Pontiac Threshermans Reunion, Tazewell County Farm Bureau; Bloomington Order of the Moose 745; and past member of the Minier Fire Department. Claude established the Minier Civil Defense.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's United Church of Christ, Minier. The Rev. Paul Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the St. John's Faith Fellowship Hall and one hour prior to services at his church. Masonic Rites will be provided by his lodge at 7:45 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Troyer Cemetery in Carlock. Davis-Haensel Funeral Home, Minier, is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. John's Fellowship Fund or the Minier Fire Department.
