NORMAL — Clayton D. Ayers, 49, of 305 Oakdale Ave., Normal, died at 12:20 a.m. Friday (Nov. 17, 2006) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Heartland Community Church, Normal, with Pastor Roger Pryor officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home Bloomington.
Memorials may be made to his daughter Jayme's Education Fund; Community Cancer Center; or Heartland Community Church, Normal.
He was born March 31, 1957, at Champaign, to Ronald and Doris Griffin Ayers. He married Rebecca Crouch on Nov. 11, 1978, at 1st Presbyterian Church, Normal.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Ayers of Normal; two daughters, Lyndsey (Adam) Carney of Normal, and Jayme Ayers, at home; his parents, Ronald and Doris Ayers of Fort Mill, S.C.; his paternal grandmother, Alfretta Ayers; one brother, Clinton Ayers of Gilbert, Ariz.; and one sister, Sharon Thiele of Fort Mill, S.C.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Donald Ayers, and his maternal grandparents.
He was a member of Heartland Community Church, Normal.
Clayton was employed as a production assistant with Sign-A-Rama in Bloomington. He was a 1976 graduate of University High School in Normal. He was an avid fan of drag racing and restoring antique cars.
He loved spending time with his girls. He was a great husband and father. The family rejoices with the Lord in welcoming him home.
