CHENOA - Cora Elizabeth Sechrest, 83, Chenoa, died at 1:18 a.m. Tuesday (June 26, 2007) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa, with the Rev. Paul Gray and the Rev. Eugene Gray officiating. Burial will be at Chenoa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the memorial home.
Mrs. Sechrest was born Dec. 23, 1923, at Robinson, the daughter of John Rollen and Nellie Reynolds Minor Crum. She married Donavan Sechrest on Dec. 30, 1941, at Palestine. He died Aug. 19, 1977.
Surviving are her children, Roland (Glenda) Sechrest, Clairmont, Fla.; Donna (Dale) Hanna, Wilma Sechrest and Marvin (Bonnie) Sechrest, all of Chenoa; Paul Sechrest, Champaign; Sharon (the Rev. Jim) Farney, Frankfort, Ind.; and Myrna (Quentin) Huette, Fairbury. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by two brothers, seven sisters and one infant son.
Mrs. Sechrest was a homemaker, had been employed as a cook at Livingston Manor and was a day-care provider who had tremendous love for her children. She was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church, Bloomington, where she taught Sunday school and was church secretary and reporter. She also served the missionary president for many years. Her hobbies included canning and gardening.
The family suggests memorials be given to the Pilgrim Holiness Church, Bloomington, or the American Diabetes Association.
