PONTIAC - Dana Mae Remmers, 79, a resident of ASTA Care Center in Pontiac, died at 1:20 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 19, 2006) at ASTA Care.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Pontiac, with Deacon Jim Wallace officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in rural Pontiac. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or the Daily Leader Needy Kids Fund.
Dana was born on Oct. 29, 1926, in LaHarpe, a daughter of Willard and Nola Westlake Buffum. She married Charles E. Remmers on May 10, 1958, in Pontiac. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1999.
Surviving is one sister, Jean Thomas, Saunemin, and one brother, Leslie Buffum, Brookfield, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
She was educated in Pontiac schools and was a 1946 graduate of Pontiac High School. She had worked at the Pontiac Shoe Factory and the Old Log Cabin and then worked for the Pontiac Daily Leader, from which she retired in 1992. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pontiac.
