CULLOM - Daniel W. Wascher, 93, a resident at Greenbrier Senior Living Community in Piper City, died at 1 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 2, 2008) at Greenbrier.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson, with Pastor Richard Bremer officiating. There will be no visitation. Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Cullom, is handling arrangements. Memorials in Daniel's name may be left to Trinity Lutheran Church, Stewardson.-;
Daniel was born Feb. 18, 1915, in Stewardson, a son of Walter and Bertha Soltwedel Wascher. He married Edith Mietzner on Feb. 14, 1937, in Stewardson. She preceded him in death Sept. 21, 1998.
He is survived by his children, Raymond (Bonnie) Wascher, Kalamazoo, Mich.; Joyce (Bill) Ommen, Cullom; David (Terry) Wascher, Sun City West, Ariz.; and Ronald (Jean Hille) Wascher and Carol (Dave) Lahners, both of Bourbonnais. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Daniel was preceded in death by three brothers, Nathan, Erwin and Walter Wascher.-;
Mr. Wascher was a farmer, and had also run an implement business and had sold real estate and insurance. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson, St. John's Lutheran Church in Cullom and Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Kankakee, where he was a very active and involved member of all three parishes.-;
