HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Danny H. "Dan" Raber, 77, of Huntsville, Ala., went to be with the Lord Sunday (Jan. 11, 2015) at Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville, Ala.
He attended Bradley University in Peoria. He worked as a draftsman until his retirement. He was a member of the original American Passion Play cast in Bloomington for 40 years, 25 years of which was spent as the leader of the Jewish mob.
He enjoyed remodeling homes and had a special love for singing in the choir at Whitesburg Baptist Church, where he was an active member for 10 years. He enjoyed the fellowship of Whitesburg Baptist Church men's breakfasts and ROMEOs. He enjoyed helping people any way he could.
Dan is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandy Raber; son, James Briggs Raber; daughter, Beth Akridge; and granddaughter, Hannah Akridge; all of Huntsville, Ala.; grandson, Daniel Akridge, Nashville, Tenn.; his dear sister, Carol (Frank) Newberry, Normal; niece, Lori Newberry, Peoria; nephew, Dr. Mark Newberry, Holland, Mich.; and many loving friends.
His godly spirit and smile will be truly missed.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Whitesburg Baptist Church Chapel, South Campus, Huntsville, Ala., with memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Shriner's Hospitals for Children, P.O. Box 1525, Ranson, W. Va. 25438.
