LeROY - Darin Dean Miller, 40, Bay City, Texas, formerly of LeRoy, passed away Saturday (June 2, 2007) at his home in Bay City, Texas. He had been ill for several years.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a scholarship fund that is being established in Darin's name at Farmer City State Bank, Farmer City, or the LeRoy First United Presbyterian Church, LeRoy.
Darin was born Aug. 25, 1966, in Gibson City, to Leonard and Joan Sanders Miller.
Survivors include his mother, Joan Miller, Maroa; his father, Leonard Miller, Bay City, Texas; and one brother, Daryl Miller, St. Louis, Mo.
He was preceded in death by two uncles, Joey Sanders and Merle Dean Miller; his maternal grandparents, Clyde and Modena Sanders; his paternal grandparents, Merle and Irene Miller; and his beloved brother, Derek Miller.
Darin was a member of the LeRoy First United Presbyterian Church, LeRoy.
He graduated from LeRoy High School in 1984, where he was very active in FFA, holding local and state offices. He wrestled and played football, establishing several school records. He attended Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
He was an avid bowler, participating in several leagues and tournaments throughout the United States. He was a collector and fan of Elvis Presley memorabilia. He enjoyed being near the water, fishing, boating, swimming or just walking the beach where he enjoyed the peaceful serenity of the surroundings.
Darin had a great sense on humor and quick wit that entertained everyone. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
