GIBSON CITY — Delbert R. Riblet, 79, of Gibson City died at 9:35 a.m. Saturday (April 8, 2017) at the Gibson City Annex in Gibson City.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibson City with the Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery in Gibson City. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City.
Delbert was born Oct. 2, 1937, in Anchor, a son of Charles B. and Alice L. Hensen Riblet. He married Marilyn C. Martin on April 5, 1957, in Gibson City. She survives in Gibson City. Also surviving are two daughters, Delene (Greston) Miller of Normal, and Dori (Tim) Keim of Gibson City; three grandchildren, Shelby (Matt Bruce) Miller, and Leah and Lauren Keim; and a brother, Larry (Virginia) Riblet of Bend, Ore.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler; and three brothers, Wayne Perkins, Marland Riblet, and Lowell Riblet.
Delbert graduated from Peoria Barber College in 1960. He was a barber from 1961 to 1972. He then worked at Hoods Ace Hardware in Gibson City from 1972 to 1980. Delbert was a lifelong member of the American Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Jaycees, Gibson City Lions Club, and part of the Saturday Night Card Party for 50-plus years. He enjoyed woodworking, walking, and having coffee and breakfast with his friends.
Memorials may be made to his church or the Moyer District Library in Gibson City.
