NORMAL — Delcenia Bronson, 91, of Normal, formerly of Chicago, passed away Thursday (Jan. 1, 2015) at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal.
She was born May 19, 1923, in Elkton, Ky., to Spurgeon and Rozelle Johnson Tolliver. She married Earl A. Bronson Sr. on March 11, 1941, in Evansville, Ind.
Delcenia was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and had been a full-time Kingdom Proclaimer for more than 20 years. As a Kingdom Proclaimer, she assisted many to come to an accurate understanding of what the Bible really teaches. Included in those teachings are the future blessings of a government under Jehovah God and his son, Jesus Christ.
She was a homemaker and also worked outside of the home to assist her husband in supporting their family. Delcenia was known for her generosity and loving concern for others. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends, all of whom fondly remember her meals and desserts. Her key ingredient was always "love."
She is survived by her children, Earl Jr. (Barbara) Bronson, Dolton; Ngozi Okasili, Murphysboro; Debra Franklin, Bloomingdale; Christopher (Charlita) Bronson, Normal; Phillip (Samora) Bronson, Chicago Heights; Phyllis Bronson-Bonaparte, Normal; Stephen (Julia) Bronson, Chicago; and Sonya (Melvin) Alsberry, Dominican Republic.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two children, Don Bronson and Regina Avant; and two grandchildren, Corbin and David Bronson.
Her service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1213 E. Emerson St., Bloomington.
