ROANOKE — Don L. Miller, 65, of Roanoke, passed away at 6:35 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 13, 2015) at Advocate Eureka Hospital.
He was born Dec. 31, 1949, in Anna, to Roy and Claudia Horn Miller. He married Toni Fender on Oct. 18, 1969, in Benson. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Tim (Julie) Miller, Eureka, and Brandon (Rose) Miller, Roanoke; four daughters, Angela Theel, Lansing, Kan.; Amy Miller, Washington; Jessica (Mike) Fitschen, Lenoir City, Tenn.; and Crystal Peiffer, Roanoke; five brothers, Roy (Charlotte) Miller, Leavenworth, Kan.; Dallas (Peggy) Miller, Bartonville; Dan (Lisa) Miller, Benson; Perry (Nancy) Miller, Mena, Ark.; and Randy (Mildred) Miller, Tower Hill; two sisters, Janet (Gary) Fox, Greencastle, Ind., and Ruth Ann Hull, Glendale, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
An Army veteran, Don proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Roanoke American Legion Post No. 463.
Don worked as a truck driver for more than 40 years before retiring in 2012. He loved his Pontiac GTO and belonged to the HOI GTO Club. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids as well as being outdoors to garden, fish, and watch squirrels and birds.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke. The Rev. Randy Miller will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in Roanoke Township Cemetery.
