DANVERS — Don Pleines, 82, of Danvers, died at 4 a.m. Sunday (April 23, 2017) at his residence.
There will be a private celebration of life for Don at a later date. Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, is handling arrangements.
He was born July 2, 1934, in Normal, to Harry and Maida Reidel Pleines. He married Mary Jane Shorthose on Aug. 8, 1954, in Danvers. She survives.
He is also survived by his four children, Shelley (Dirk) Nybakke, Normal; Susan (Greg) Geshwilm, Danvers; Amy (Mark) Parker, Normal; and Martin Pleines, Normal; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and niece, Krista Gandhi, Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles; and one sister, Pauline Pleines.
Don was an active member of the farming community and with his ready smile made many friends through his involvement with various ag-related organizations and businesses. But he most loved sharing his love of the land with Mary and his family and left a legacy of memories under every tree.
