HUDSON - Donald E. Whitwood, 92, of Hudson, died Tuesday (Jan. 10, 2006) at his residence.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hudson United Methodist Church. Pastor Kevin Boesen will officiate. Interment will be at Hudson Cemetery, Hudson. Memorials may be made to Hudson United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Donald was born Feb. 9, 1913, in Hudson, the son of Ed and Ella Olsen Whitwood. He married Hilda Sprehe July 15, 1939, in Bloomington, his wife of 66 years.

Donald is survived by wife, Hilda Sprehe Whitwood of Hudson; daughter, Nancy (Gene) Williams of Ellsworth; two sons, Jim (Diane) Whitwood of Towanda and Donnie Whitwood of Hudson; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Raymond, Clifford, and Robert; three sisters, Hazel, Juanita, and Esther.
He was a member of Hudson United Methodist Church; the Bloomington Elks Lodge; and McLean County Farm Bureau. He graduated form Hudson High School in 1928.
He was a retired farmer of Hudson, having started farming in 1950. He first started a trucking business and spread lime on many farms in McLean County as well as trucking livestock to Chicago to market. He also raised chickens and trucked a load of eggs to Chicago once a week. He was former owner of the Hudson Implement Store and a former partner of Kerrick Grain Co.
He enjoyed gardening and playing golf and was an avid Chicago White Sox fan and lived to see the team win the World Series in 2005. His love of his life was his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
