PONTIAC - Donald J. Jackson, 42, Pontiac, died at 8:07 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 16, 2007) at OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac
A private graveside service will be at Union Cemetery in Odell, with the Rev. Fred Simpson of the Pentecostal Church officiating. There will be no visitation. Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac, is handling the arrangements. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
Donald was born July 21, 1964, at Pontiac, a son of E.C. and Joyce Joerndt Jackson.
Survivors include his mother, Joyce (William) Rich, Pontiac; three aunts, Donna Ricks, Sandra McKinley and Elaine Schroeder; and one uncle, Donald Joerndt. He was preceded in death by his father and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Donald was educated in Pontiac schools and a 1983 graduate of Pontiac Township High School. He attended Joliet Junior College. He taught English in Puebla, Mexico.
He had been employed at Evenglow Lodge, Martin Luther Home, Comfort Inn and Long John Silvers, all in Pontiac.
After returning from Mexico, Donald raised, showed and sold cockatiels and parakeets. In his first bird show, Don received 12 ribbons and 14 trophies.
