TOWANDA - Donald J. Mueller, 85, father of a Towanda resident, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 2, 2006) at his home in Champaign.
Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign, is in charge of arrangements. There will be a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 403 W. Clark St., Champaign. Father Dennis Spohrer will officiate. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. There also will be a parish wake service at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born Sept. 20, 1920, at Belleville, a son of John E. and Frieda Gundlach Mueller. He married Vivian Woods on April 19, 1944, in East St. Louis. She survives and resides in Champaign.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Glenn Mueller, Urbana, and Dennis Mueller, Towanda; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Allen J. Mueller, Belleville.
He was preceded in death by one infant daughter, one brother and one sister.
He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Champaign. He was a life member and past-exalted ruler of the Champaign-Urbana Elks Club 2497 and was a former member of the Champaign Moose Club. He worked as a farmer in the Belleville area until 1959, when he purchased the Western Auto Parts Store in Urbana and moved to the Champaign area. He worked as a building service inspector at the University of Illinois, retiring in 1982. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing.
