PONTIAC - Donald Thomas Gourley, 59, of Pontiac, died at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 17, 2008) at Livingston Manor, rural Pontiac.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac, with the Rev. Larry Frank officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Center in Bloomington. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Don was born Jan. 21, 1949, in Streator, a son of Samuel T. and Dorothy M. Cashmer Gourley. He graduated from Cornell High School in 1967 and later married Kathy Cashmer on Feb. 28, 1970, in Aurora.
He started working at Interlake in 1969 as a union laborer and on April 1, 1991 (April Fools' Day), he was promoted to maintenance supervisor. He held various jobs in a supervisory capacity until his death.
He enjoyed playing golf. He loved spending time with his family, which was of utmost importance in his life.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy; daughter, Stephanie (Anthony) Guerrero; son, Chris Gourley; all of Pontiac; three grandchildren, India Guerrero, Pontiac; and Delaney and Madaline Gourley, both of Flanagan; five sisters, Dorothy (Robert) Ann Shepherd, Pontiac; Letitia (Dale) Stokes, Graymont; Debbie (Tim) Dunahee, Linda (Mike) Ruddy and Amy (Rick) Kridner; all of Cornell; four brothers: Richard (Patti) Gourley, Cornell; Sam (Karen) Gourley, Pontiac; Mitchell Gourley, Minonk; and Jack (Meg) Gourley, Cornell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and two nephews.
