NORMAL — Donald Leroy Zeller, 74, of McLean County Nursing Home, Normal, formerly of Campus, died at 10:52 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 29, 2005) at McLean County Nursing Home, Normal.
He was born Aug. 24, 1931, in Emington, to Frank and Anna Cecilia Nelson Zeller. He was a Reddick High School graduate. He worked as a gas line operator for Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America, Herscher.
He married Mary V. Autorino on Nov. 27, 1954, in Hewlett, N.Y. She died Sept. 12, 1990. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on April 22, 1951. He served in the Korean War. He was discharged April 22, 1955.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Dave) Johansen, Fairbury; three sons, Mark (Mary) Zeller, New Lenox; Donald (Kathy) Zeller, Excello, Mo.; and John Zeller, Cabery; one brother, Dale (Irene) Zeller, Fairbury; three sisters, Elaine Balke, Streator; Rita Luber, Garfield Heights, Ohio; and Peg Lepic, Bridgeport, Ohio; five grandchildren; three stepgrandsons; one great-granddaughter; and three stepgreat-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one sister; and one son, Paul Francis Zeller.
He had been a Boy Scout Master of Troop 202, Campus, and had been a Little League coach.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Campus, with Fr. William Gardner officiating. Inurnment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Campus. Full military rites will be conducted by Dwight VFW and American Legion Post 2608.
Memorials may be made to Cub Scout Troop 802, Campus, in care of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Cremation rites will be accorded.
