BLOOMINGTON — Dorothy A. Kiper, 81, Bloomington, went to be with her Lord at 9:50 a.m. Sunday (May 1, 2011) at Bloomington Rehab and Health Care Center, Bloomington.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church, Normal. Dr. Ralph E. Wingate Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. The family suggests memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church, Normal, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Dorothy was born Nov. 28, 1929, in Heyworth, daughter of Ulric and Florence Rousey Ploense Moit. She married Roger S. Kiper on March 6, 1949, in Normal. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Rev. David A. (Jeannette) Kiper, Kenton, Ohio, and Philip L. (Pamela) Kiper, Dunlap, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Lydia (Jayson) Kapp, Norman, Okla.; Timothy (Courtney) Kiper, Kenton, Ohio; Ruth (Jason) Speer, Streamwood; Rachel (Peter) Voss, North Burlington; Kathryn Kiper, Dunlap, Tenn.; Elizabeth (Michael) O’Neal, Lakewood, Ohio; William R. Kiper, Dunlap, Tenn.; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Doris; and her three sisters, Eleanor Fluegel, Marjorie Hervey and Roberta Kaufman; and one brother, Earl Moit.

Dorothy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Normal. She taught Sunday school at the church and was financial secretary at the church. Dorothy was a former Awana leader. She had formerly worked at Boylan’s Ice Cream for two years and Kreske Dollar Store for three years as cashier.

She was a loving wife mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.
