PONTIAC - Dorothy Margaret Richardson, 81, Pontiac, died at 6:55 a.m. Wednesday (May 30, 2007) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
She was born the daughter of Floyd William and Bertha Elizabeth (Steele) Smith on March 30, 1926, in Abingdon. She married Bruce Roland Richardson on March 23, 1945, in Portsmith, Va. He preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
She was employed at the Sangamon County Court as a clerk before retiring in 1978. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Auburn, Home Sweet Home, American Legion Auxiliary in Pontiac, Bloomington Normal Artist Guild and Trinity Guild.
Dorothy was a giving person to all who knew her. She treasured her family and friends. Her faith in God was always a constant comfort to her. She loved traveling, gardening, reading and spending time with family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by sons, Kenneth (Lela) and Billy Richardson, both of Mobile, Ala.; daughters, Sharon Richardson, Springfield, and Gail (Charles) Tucker, Pontiac; eight grandchildren, Terri Richardson Howard, Kenny Richardson, George Coontz Jr., Kacie Richardson, Dolores, Teresa, Cynthia and Hadley Tucker; and two great-grandchildren, Steven and Carson Howard; sisters, Betty Seideman, Abingdon; Jean Shaffer, Bushnell; and Rachel (Terry) Hunter, Houston, Texas.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bisch Funeral Home West, Springfield, with the Rev. Richard Harre officiating.
