LeROY — Dorothy M. McCormick, 92, of LeRoy passed away at 2:10 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 24, 2015) at the Farmer City Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. 

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy, with the Rev. Ed Loper officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Rebekah service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Dorothy was born Sept. 2, 1922, in Lincoln, a daughter of Edward and Freida Ritchhart Buss Sr. She married Leo G. McCormick on Jan. 20, 1946, in LeRoy. He passed away Aug. 19, 2006.

She is survived by a son, Dennis (Judy) McCormick, rural LeRoy; five grandchildren, Jason (Emily) McCormick, Colfax; Elizabeth (William) Cresap, White Heath; Brian (Lindsey) McCormick, LeRoy; Brandie (Brad) Briggs, Charlotte, N.C.; and Brittany (fiancé Joel Jackson) McCormick, Oswego; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley (Karen) Buss, Ellsworth, and Leonard E. Buss, Peoria, Ariz.; sister, Beverly (Merle) Woods, LeRoy; and special friends, Steve and Sherry Shipley, Towanda, and Dixie Wardrip, LeRoy.

She was preceded in death by her son, Gary McCormick; parents; brother; and sister.

Dorothy had been a secretary for 23 years for Eureka Williams Co. in Bloomington, retiring in 1987. She served as a volunteer radio dispatcher for the LeRoy Police, Fire and Ambulance Service for many years. Dorothy was a 1940 graduate of Empire Township High School and a graduate of Browns Business College, Bloomington. She was a member of LeRoy Christian Church; May Queen Rebekah Lodge 210, LeRoy; and the Empire Social Club.
