PONTIAC — Dorothy A. Sengpiel, 83, DeKalb, formerly of Pontiac, died at 6:50 p.m. Friday (Nov. 22, 2013) at Bethany Health Care Center, DeKalb.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pontiac, with the Rev. Jim Rees officiating. There will be no visitation. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac, is handling the arrangements. Memorials in Dorothy’s name may be left to Transition Hospice or Lincolnshire Place.
Dorothy was born Oct. 10, 1930, in Weston, a daughter of Henry and Matilda Anderson Wiegers. She married Lester Sengpiel on Sept. 24, 1950, in Pontiac.

She is survived by one son, Mark A. Sengpiel, Pontiac; one daughter, Rose (Alex) Itel, St. Petersburg, Fla.; one granddaughter, Kirsten (Aaron) Schulz; one sister, Betty Hendershot, Pontiac; one sister-in-law, Shirley Wiegers, Pontiac; and two nephews, Scott Wiegers and Steve Wiegers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charles Wiegers.
Dorothy graduated from Chenoa High School and attended Illinois Wesleyan University. She had worked as a secretary at Johnson & Taylor in Pontiac for several years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pontiac, where she was organist for several years.
