Dorothy J. Weidner, 93, of Heyworth, passed away at 7:58 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 31, 2017) at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community.
Her graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, with military rites accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heyworth Public Library District. Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Heyworth, is in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy was born Dec. 21, 1923, in Heyworth, to George and Viola Buckley Pendleton. She married Cecil Weidner on July 30, 1948, in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Schmidt, Denver, Colo., and Charlotte (Robert) O'Dea, Clinton; one brother, Charles (Betty) Pendleton, Estero, Fla.; niece, Lori (Deron) Penn; and nephews, Bob (Debi) O'Dea and Mike (Lucia) Pendleton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Dorothy was a World War II Army veteran. After her service she worked as a government employee. She was an avid genealogist.
