NORMAL - Douglas H. Finn, 83, of Normal died at 9:35 a.m. Friday (Nov. 23, 2007) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. Roane Deckert officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Bloomington, with military rites accorded by Carl S. Martin American Legion Post 635, Normal. Visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, with additional visitation one half hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Douglas was born April 17, 1924, in Springfield, the son of Coleman and Dulcie Hay Nunn Finn. He married Shirley Beatty Feb. 8, 1947, in Springfield. She died Sept. 16, 1989. He married Josephine Douglas in 1991.

Survivors include one daughter, Deborah (Ray) Reed, Bloomington; one son, Michael (Darlene) Finn, Bloomington; four grandchildren, Lindsay (Jeremy) Hahn, Gridley; Laura (fiance Darin Weber) Reed, Minneapolis, Minn.; and Bradley Finn and Bryan Finn, both of Bloomington; one great-grandson, Braden Hahn; four sisters, Capnolia Luman, Springfield; Lorine Roodhouse, Jacksonville; Jane (James) Hinkel, Bloomington; and Thelma Ann Ruprecht, St. Louis, Mo.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Doug graduated from Springfield High School and was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II, serving in Iwo Jima.

He was an executive purchasing agent for State Farm Insurance Companies, retiring after 40 years.

Doug was an avid hunter and card player and was a great home handyman. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
