BLOOMINGTON - Elizabeth Halbert Edwards, 27, of 8659 S. 87th Ave. Apt. 216, Justice, died at 12:20 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 29, 2005) at her residence.

She had been ill. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 7 at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, 801 W. Market St., Bloomington, with the Rev. Frank McSwain officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, 1115 E. Washington St., Bloomington. A memorial fund has been established in her memory and may be mailed to: Elizabeth H. Edwards Memorial Fund, c/o Regions Bank, 1304 E. Empire St., Bloomington, IL 61701. Arrangements are being handled by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington.

She was born July 1, 1978, in Bloomington, to Charles and Willie Holton Halbert . She married Lorenzo Edwards on Nov. 2, 2002, in Bloomington. He survives.

Also surviving are her parents, Charles and Willie Halbert, Bloomington; one son, Charles Bryce Edwards, Justice; one sister, Mary Jones, Florida; her maternal grandmother, Mary Holton, Harvey; a sister in the Lord, Yashica (Rossevelt) Mosley, Bloomington; three nieces, Collyssa, Nia and Alonda; and a host of cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, the late Willie and Mary Halbert, Harvey; maternal grandfather, the late Rev. Jesse Lee Holton, Harvey; and one son, Reece.

Elizabeth was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Bloomington.

She was a graduate of Bloomington High School. She graduated from Eastern Illinois University, Charleston. She obtained her law degree from Loyola University, Chicago, in 2004.

She had been a prosecuting assistant states attorney for Cook County for the past year. She was an advocate for human rights. Elizabeth was a loving wife, mother, sister and a “princess of a daughter."

She had lived life to the fullest and has gone on to be with our Heavenly Father.
